About Us

About Us

Appiah Sports Impact started as a small initiative in 2002 at Presec Staff Primary School. Initially supporting youth in Madina’s slums, we have grown into a formally registered foundation as of 2024. Our mission is to empower youth aged 15-20 through football and education, helping them thrive both on and off the field.

Our Story

Our Story

Appiah Sports Impact (ASI) was founded with a clear vision: to inspire and empower young people through sports and education. The name “Appiah Sports Impact” embodies ambition, hope, and the relentless pursuit of excellence, core values that reflect our commitment to nurturing youth potential.

Our journey began in 2002 at Presec Staff Primary School in Madina, Accra, Ghana. What started informally as a group of passionate students forming a team called One-touch FC, quickly grew into a broader community initiative. From those early days, ASI extended its support to underserved youth, particularly in the slums of Madina, and later to the Abokobi community through mentorship and development programs with Boi United.

Although deeply involved in youth development for many years, it was in 2024 that the organization gained formal recognition and was officially registered as Appiah Sports Impact (ASI). Under this new identity, we now oversee Banky Rovers FC, one of our core football teams, as part of our expanding youth development initiative.

ASI focuses on young individuals aged 15 to 20, using football as a powerful tool to teach life skills, promote discipline, and foster personal growth. Our programs go beyond the pitch, encouraging academic achievement and career development. Whether it’s helping a player pursue a professional football career or guiding them towards academic or vocational success, our mission remains the same: to motivate youth to set goals and achieve their full potential.

Through sports and education, Appiah Sports Impact is building a future where every young person can rise, lead, and make a difference in their communities.

Mission

OurMission

Our mission is to empower and inspire young athletes, particularly those aged 14 to 20, by using football as a tool to promote education, personal development, and career growth. We aim to help primary school and junior high school students from low-income families successfully navigate the educational system through the power of sports. By combining athletic training with academic support, we provide youth with the resources and opportunities to achieve both academic success and athletic excellence.

Bringing Passion and Dedication Together: Meet the Team Driving Our Mission Forward.

Daniel Appiah Gyekye: Founder & CEO

As a young man with a deep passion for sports and a vision of creating a team that drives social change, I witnessed firsthand how many of my friends were unable to realize their dreams due to a lack of access to education and sports opportunities, or a neglect of one dream in pursuit of another.

This experience has shaped my desire to use sports as a platform to create meaningful change. When I started this journey, I was joined by close friends, including Kofi Oku-Afari Boadu, Andrew Ziblim, and Christian Mensah. Together, we shared a common goal: to help young athletes realize their full potential by using education as a tool to support and elevate their athletic careers.

Our aim is not just to nurture talented sportspeople but to ensure that they have the academic foundation needed to thrive in all aspects of life and by so doing, afford them the opportunity to choose the pathway they themselves desire, as opposed to having to pursue a path they have no interest in or forgo a dream due to lack of opportunity.
